Bent Cops?

Each police borough or division in the Metropolitan Police area is required to identify a crime 'hotspot'. This is the geographical area identified as suffering the most crime of all varieties.

The crime 'hotspot' for Colindale Police station in north London is: the Metropolitan Police Training School!

Quite true.

A good friend of mine is a trainer at Hendon. The stories he tells me about offences committed nowadays by some recruits are truly jaw dropping.

There was a certain amount of misbehaviour during my time there but nothing compared to what seems to go on now.

Okay, this deserves a bit more explanation.

And so it has been since the mid-nineties. The dropping of recruitment standards, from the vetting of application forms onwards; the inability (or officially sanctioned unwillingness) to weed out those who are clearly unsuitable -(because they are too stupid, or will never make a decent police officer as long as they have... etc; PLUS the end of disciplne of any kind have all contributed to this 'perverted' situation.

Just another few years before ARVs, Nigerian style, start setting up impromptu roadblocks in order to extract pay-offs from unsuspecting motorists in exchange for not getting shot in the face.

Awesome!

Before I joined the Met I got a jacket stolen from Hendon on my initial assesment, that was the early nineties, I didn't report that so it didn't get added to the stats, glad to see nothing changes !!

It always 'amused' me that each time there was a passing-out parade, when friends and family members of recruits were allowed onto the estate, the management used to put up signs warning that all property should be locked away. These are associates of police officers! It was expected that they would go wandering around private areas stealing.
I believe a lot of stolen cars still turn up in the car parks.

its cause when every dan pen and pencil goes missing ... a bloody recruit makes a crime report.....

Hey Detective Weary. Could you come up with some evidence for this one?

The press office deny everything. And the spokeswoman said she didn't even know what a blog was.

But then they would say that, wouldn't they? I know, I should try harder, no stone unturned etc.

Storyman - it has been common knowledge amongst Met police officers for years, as you can see from the comments above. A better approach may be to ask for crime figures for that location. Some reports may be 'restriced' because of the location though...Speak to anyone at the local police borough about the Training School!
