The Difference

In 1966, three police officers were shot dead trying to apprehend armed criminals. This incident led to the formation of the armed branch of the Met Police. Following the shootings, public revulsion led to hundreds of people lining the streets outside Shepherds Bush Police Station to offer support.

In  2011, an armed criminal shoots a police officer and is shot dead in return. The 'community' react by setting fire to police cars and looting shops.

It is the pebble which assumes a critical path which starts a chain reaction. In this way, we are heartbeats away from revolution with much worse to come.

That police will be so fearful as to discard uniforms and denounce their own service, is one possible future.

‘The Guardian understands that initial ballistics tests on a bullet, found lodged in a police radio worn by an officer during Thursday’s incident, suggested it was police issue – and therefore had not been fired by Duggan.’

Guardian leads with the first suggestion of an execution scenario.
