I believe the only way forward, the only way to deal with the rioting, is a new direction, a way ahead that steps away from the old-style politics of aggression and division. We need a gathering of people who can claim pride in living in England, to take the country back from the extremists. Everyone, of all groups, must come together and stand in peace. The middle ground may not be fashionable, but is the only way. The far left and right, and their supporters in the press and 'community' are destroying us. From the EDL to the SWP our country has been taken away from us, left in the hands of scum.
I want to support a new England where everyone seeks to know everyone else. It must be recognised that divisions in society are kept in place to support those with power. 'Community leaders' and pressure groups need division to justify their continued existence. They need to be turned away from - the real problems need to be addressed by a combined approach, not laid at the door of racism. The extremism of certain Muslim groups must not be met with extremism. The decent, moderate Muslims of this country require our support and help.
The decent silent majority must take to the streets. Not to seek confrontation with the police, not to beat rape and destroy but to show pride in this wonderful country.
The police must be restructured and simplified. We cannot continue to take the blame for the failings of society, however with a deeply political senior management this cannot change. The police must be of the people and for the people. The decent people of England. My England, your England, our England.

Excellent sentiments, WWD but "The extremism of certain Muslim groups must not be met with extremism" will never be resolved by reasoning alone.
"The police must be....for the people" This organisation has truly lost its way. It is beyond redemption and such reformation as is required cannot be completed ahead of its appointment with the worst to come.
I tend to long wind after years in universities - in short my feelings are much the same. I'm probably left enough to want to extend responsible wealth around the world too, but I've worked abroad enough to fear other cultures a lot of the time. The way our 'politics' has allowed the rich to steal so much leaves rioting almost inevitable.

You're right, mockery is the weapon of choice to deal with fundies. If you can show a persons position to be without any real foundation, then they will struggle for support. Laughter is perhaps the most effective method of getting a point both across and to stick.
RE the post.
I'll put my hands up and admit, I never expected the above sentiment to come from a police officer.
For that I apologise.
This message needs to be spread as far and wide as possible.
Thanks for taking the time to write it.
Allcoppedout - Haven't the rich / powerful always bagged the loot? Is this really the reason for the recent riots, or is it something more than material possessions?
the_leander - I agree - I've dealt with people determined to 'get a rise' from me - to laugh makes them want to explode, but leaves me on the moral high ground. Thank you for your kind comments about the post - I always hope never to write as people would imagine a police officer would, however I do appreciate sometimes I fail!
